Siliken implements SAP as a new management system
2008/10/28. The company will invest over one million euros in modernising its management
Since Siliken’s founding in 2001, its turnover has evolved rapidly, going from a turnover of barely 5 million euros in 2004 to 152 million euros in 2007. This rapid growth and Siliken’s business strategy for the upcoming years has motivated the need to have a technological platform that provides the necessary flexibility for company growth and diversification, in products and services as well as in markets, in addition to a platform that improves communication and coordination between the various departments and companies of the Siliken group.
Siliken would like to adapt its processes to the SAP standard as much as possible and to integrate the various areas of the business under a single database architecture. This is a company organisation project that involves all departments and that has the solid support of company management. It will thus be possible to reliably and quickly access accurate information, and the group’s processes will be centralised.
Another objective of SAP implementation is to improve communication and coordination between the various departments and companies, given that Siliken is a group of companies with presence in Spain (Valencia, Albacete and Tenerife), the United States, Italy, France and Germany, and the ambition to continue growing in new markets. Siliken Modules (manufacturer of photovoltaic modules), Siliken Chemicals (silicon purification), Siliken Electronics (power inverters and electronics), Siliken Energy (developer of renewable energy projects), Siliken Solutions (engineering and installation) and Siliken Automation (manufacturing and automation of production lines) have all arisen in recent years under the Siliken umbrella, wherefore the need to modernise and improve organisation and management is evident.
The objectives covered by this project include reliable and quick access to accurate information, which allows the best choice to be made at any given time and assures the right flow of the processes and operation of the group, thereby providing greater efficiency and flexibility to the organisation and making it possible for the group to reach a higher level of competitiveness in the market. Through SAP ERP 2007, Siliken will be able to control the costs of customer information systems, in addition to the maintenance and optimisation thereof.
Siliken was founded in 2001, and in that same year the company received an award for the best business initiative of the year. Since then, the evolution of the staff has been spectacular. In 2005 there were 65 employees, increasing to 195 employees in 2006, and the company now has over 1200 people. As a result of this strong development, the SILIKEN group has become one of the main manufacturers of photovoltaic equipment and of other renewable energy solutions.
Siliken (www.siliken.com) is a group of companies engaged in the renewable energy sector, and its main business activity is the manufacture of photovoltaic solar modules and inverters for stand-alone or grid-connected installations.
Founded in 2001, it currently provides direct employment to 1200 people, with a constantly growing staff. Due to its achievements, Siliken has received awards on several occasions: the most important recognitions were the two IMPIVA-CEEI Valencia awards for the Best Business Initiative 2001 and awards for the Best Business Trajectory of Valencia in 2004 and of the Autonomous Community of Valencia in 2005. The Siliken team is committed to production plants that do not pollute the environment and to constant investment in product quality and R&D in order to develop new products in the renewable energy sector.
